A Community Performance Workshop.
Eclipses Group Theater NY invites actors, theater artists, educators, drama students and community members of all backgrounds to a free performance workshop inspired by Euripides’ The Trojan Women.
Exploring the timeless themes of war, loss, displacement and resilience, participants will work with excerpts from the play while incorporating personal stories and collective memory through mask work, chorus, music, rhythm, movement and voice. Participants will also create their own masks and work with a professional percussionist as part of the creative process.
The workshop will culminate in two public presentations on the Main Stage of the Hellenic Cultural Center, followed by an open community discussion.
FREE PARTICIPATION
This workshop is made possible (in part) with public funds from the Queens Arts Fund, a re-grant program supported by New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council and administered by New York Foundation for the Arts.
